Center Stage (Vinyl)
Center Stage in Atlanta, GA, is a notable music and performing arts venue that has evolved significantly since its inception. It comprises three distinct spaces: Center Stage Theater, The Loft, and Vinyl, each catering to different audience sizes and offering a variety of live entertainment experiences. Vinyl, the focus of our overview, is the smallest of the three, with a capacity of 300, and it opened its doors on February 20, 2003. This intimate venue is known for its "low-key, high-quality" atmosphere, making it a beloved spot in Atlanta's local music scene.
Originally known as Theatre Atlanta, Center Stage opened on October 26, 1966. It was built as a memorial by Ms. Frania Tye Lee to honor her daughter, Mrs. Helen Lee Cartledge, and the other Atlanta arts patrons who perished in the Orly plane crash of 1962. The venue has hosted a wide array of events over the years, from music and comedy shows to wrestling and eSports. Notably, it was the first broadcast location for the Video Music Channel in 1982 and has been the venue for ProgPower USA for over two decades. It has also seen performances by major artists like Sir Elton John, Beck, Jay-Z, Jamie Foxx, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry, among others.
