Snug Harbor
Snug Harbor, located in the Plaza Midwood area of Charlotte, NC, is a neighborhood bar and live music venue that has been a staple of the local music scene for over 15 years. Established in 2007 by long-time musician and talent booker, Scott McCannell, Snug Harbor was born out of a desire to support the local music scene and bands passing through town. Over the years, it has become a beloved venue for intimate rock and roll performances.
The venue has hosted a wide range of artists and bands, contributing to its reputation as one of Charlotte's most important indie music venues. Notable performances include a concert by nine-time Grammy Award winner, Norah Jones, which kicked off Snug Harbor’s year-long celebration of 120 years of the Music Hall. The British band, the xx, also performed at the venue, offering visitors an experience of innovative and pulsing sounds.
Snug Harbor is not just a music venue, but also a part of the local culture. It has been involved in Charlotte Pride celebrations and has been a key player in the Charlotte Independent Venue Alliance, which successfully lobbied the Charlotte City Council for rent relief. The venue's commitment to its staff and community is evident in the fact that when it reopened after a closure, almost all employees chose to return.
