The Sultan Room
The Sultan Room, located at 234 Starr Street in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn, is a unique music venue that caters to a diverse range of musical tastes and events. The venue was opened in 2019 by native Wisconsinites in a space that also includes a restaurant, The Turk's Inn, which was modeled after the iconic Wisconsin supper club of the same name. The venue's name, "The Sultan Room," was inspired by a sign from the original Turk's Inn.
The Sultan Room is known for its distinctive design, which combines elements of Middle Eastern aesthetics with a '70s disco club vibe. The venue features a state-of-the-art sound system, technicolored lighting, and a sunken dance floor. It has a standing capacity of 201 people and can seat 115, making it a versatile space for both sit-down shows and dance parties. The venue also offers full audio/visual capability, a fully stocked bar, and generous green room facilities.
The Sultan Room has hosted a variety of artists and bands, offering both live concerts and DJ sets. Some of the artists who have performed at the venue include Jet Daisy, PawPaw Rod, Billy Allen + The Pollies, and the Selcouth Quartet. The venue's music programming is known for its diversity, featuring everything from experimental jazz to global sounds.
